Hello friends! Today we\u2019re making German Chocolate Cookies\u2014chewy and soft chocolate cookies filled with a delicious coconut pecan filling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The filling is inspired by brigadeiros, a Brazilian fudge made from sweetened condensed milk. It has a similar texture but is a bit softer thanks to added coconut milk or heavy cream. I\u2019ve included pecans and coconut to capture the flavors of a German Chocolate Cake in cookie form!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tips for Making German Chocolate Cookies:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Cookie Thickness:<\/strong> Don\u2019t roll the dough too thin; the cookies won\u2019t rise much during baking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Minimize Flour:<\/strong> Use as little flour as possible when rolling out the dough to avoid making the cookies dry and tough. If the dough sticks too much, refrigerate it or roll it between sheets of wax paper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Baking Time:<\/strong> Be careful not to overbake. Since the cookies are brown, it\u2019s hard to tell when they\u2019re done by color. Check the center\u2014it should look set and not wet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Filling Consistency:<\/strong> Don\u2019t overcook the filling. When it falls off the spatula in chunks and you can see the bottom of the pan, it\u2019s ready.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Travel-Friendly:<\/strong> These cookies travel well, and the filling can stay at room temperature for up to a day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
